Fire Cadet Program

BECOMING A FIRE CADET

The Fire Cadet Program is designed for young men and women between 15 - 18 years old. Cadets work side by side with the Gray Fire Department members in the station to learn duties and responsibilities of a firefighter. The Cadet will be assigned a task book. The task book requires the cadet to learn and gain hands on experience in such things as first aid, basic firefighting skills, tools & equipment maintenance, community relations, and fire prevention.

The Cadet program has a Program Coordinator who will coordinate such activities within the program. When the cadet turns 18 years old, they will be eligible to attend the NPQ Firefighter 1 course and further enhance their skills as they work towards their certification.

Becoming a Fire Cadet is an excellent way to develop the necessary skills and gain valuable experience that will be helpful in any future endeavor.

The Program serves to support our long term strategic goal to keep our membership up within the city. It also provides community resiliency, and a formal mentorship program for the youth of our City.
